Mental health counseling

Therapy is a place to explore history, meaning, and new ways of coping. At times, it means a space to discuss the past and create new understandings. At other times, it offers opportunity to look at current stressors in a new way. 

A large body of research is devoted to finding out what works best in therapy, and ultimately the most important element is a good fit between client and therapist. My focus in therapy is to work with clients to build resilience and work on what is important to you. 

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Oregon. My specialty areas include depression, anxiety, trauma, family dynamics, infertility, and identity development. I warmly welcome the LGBT community and have experience in working through the coming out process and relationship dynamics. I work with adults 18 and up.  

I use a psychodynamic perspective in therapy, meaning that I am skilled in helping my clients discover connections between past events and current behaviors. In this way we can work toward understanding this link, and undo the traps laid by our past. I also employ strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, research in trauma and neuropsychology, and Existential/Humanistic therapeutic approaches.
